Using the Discord bot

Find league information, manage your trade block, and take a trade from proposal to approval—all starting in Discord.

Updated September 18, 2026 · Release 7.7.1

1. Getting started

The FranchiseHQ (FHQ) bot connects your league’s Discord server to its FranchiseHQ website. Your league must have the bot connected before commands can work.

  1. Use your league Discord account. Sign in to FranchiseHQ with the same Discord account you use in the server.
  2. Join your league. If the bot asks you to join, use /join in the league server. This creates unassigned league access; a commissioner must assign your team before you can manage its trade block or propose trades.
  3. Select the FranchiseHQ bot. Choose FranchiseHQ from Discord’s command menu, then select the command you want to use.
  4. Allow bot direct messages. Keep your Discord privacy settings configured to receive the bot’s trade notifications.

How to enter a command

Type / immediately followed by the command name—for example, /player. Select the FranchiseHQ command, fill in its fields, choose any suggested result, and send it. Player and team suggestions narrow as you type.

Commands with a private option can show the response only to you. Otherwise, information lookups may appear in the current channel.

League data depends on imports. Game results, statistics, and standings reflect the latest Madden data imported into FranchiseHQ. A game finished in Madden will not immediately appear as played until the import is updated.

2. Command reference

Use Discord’s command menu to select the options shown below.

CommandWhat it does
/playerFind a player by name. Choose the player from the suggestions to view their player information and position-specific statistics.
/leadersShow the top 10 players for a statistical category. Choose a group and a statistic, such as /leaders passing touchdowns.

Select a published category or section using the name field—for example, League Operations or Substitutions and Position Changes. Available choices come from your league’s published rules.

3. Managing your trade block

Your trade block lists players you are open to trading. Listing a player does not create a trade proposal.

From the website

Open your team in FranchiseHQ and select the star beside a player’s name to add them to the trade block. The listing also becomes available through the Discord bot.

From Discord

  • /trade-block add — select one of your players in the player field. You can add a looking-for note about the return you want.
  • /trade-block remove — select the player you want to remove from your block.
  • /trade-block view — view listings across the league. Select the optional team field to show only your team or another specific team.

Changes made in Discord update the FHQ trade block. Refresh an already-open website page if a change is not yet visible.

4. Creating a trade

Use the FranchiseHQ Trade Center for your league’s trade process. Before proposing a deal, review the players and draft picks available to your team. Report missing or incorrect picks to a commissioner.

Two-team trades in Discord

  1. Choose /trade create.
  2. In owner, select the registered owner and team you want to trade with.
  3. In send-1, select the first player or draft pick your team will send.
  4. In receive-1, select the first player or draft pick your team will receive.
  5. Add more assets as needed using send-2 through send-6 and receive-2 through receive-6.
  6. Review the offer and submit it. You can also include an optional note.
Up to six assets per side. A player or draft pick counts as one asset. The sides do not need equal counts: you can send one player and receive two picks.

Three- and four-team trades

Create these deals in the website’s Trade Center. Use /trade multi-team to get the website link, then select the three or four participating teams and build the proposal there.

5. Negotiation and approval

Propose Negotiate Accept Committee review Execute in Madden

Review the proposal together

A two-team Discord proposal opens a private negotiation thread for the registered owners. Review the offered players and picks, discuss changes, and use the buttons on the latest offer. Counter Offer opens the trade in FHQ so you can revise it.

If the bot cannot open a private thread, it attempts to send private messages instead. You can also open the trade in the website’s Trade Center.

If the trade partner rejects the proposal

The bot sends a rejection notification by DM and closes the negotiation thread by archiving and locking it. Archiving closes the conversation; it does not delete the trade record.

If the trade partner accepts

Selecting Accept Trade sends the agreed proposal to the configured committee review channel, such as Trade-Submit. Authorized commissioners and Trade Committee members can approve or deny it. The committee post and private trade thread display the current approval and denial totals.

A reviewer who selects Deny can provide an optional reason explaining the concern or requested changes. A single vote does not necessarily decide the trade; the outcome follows your league’s review settings.

After committee review

  • Approved: the bot sends an approval DM and archives and locks the private thread. The owners can then execute the approved deal in Madden.
  • Denied by the committee: the private thread remains available for discussion. Use Revise Trade to open FHQ, adjust the offer, and submit the revision for renewed acceptance and review.
Acceptance is not final approval. Wait until FHQ shows the trade as approved before sending it in Madden. The bot manages the approval process; the owners still complete the transaction in the game.

6. Troubleshooting

A FranchiseHQ command is missing

Select FranchiseHQ in Discord’s command menu. If FHQ commands are unavailable, ask a commissioner to check the server connection and channel permissions.

I cannot manage my team or create a trade

Confirm you are using the same Discord account linked to your FHQ league membership. Use /join if prompted, then ask a commissioner to verify your active membership and team assignment. Joining alone does not assign a team.

A player or draft pick is missing

Check that you selected the correct team and trade side. Send a commissioner the player’s name or the pick’s year, round, and original team so they can verify ownership and the available data.

A completed game still appears as unplayed

The bot reads the latest imported Madden data. Check whether a new import has completed, or ask a commissioner to update the import.

I did not receive a trade DM or cannot find the thread

Check your Discord message requests and privacy settings. Open the trade in FHQ to confirm its current status. Approved trades and proposals rejected by a partner have their threads archived and locked. Contact a commissioner if an active negotiation is inaccessible.

An old trade button no longer works

A revised offer replaces the previous version. Open the latest trade message or the trade in FHQ before accepting, rejecting, or reviewing it.

Still need help? Contact a league commissioner with the command you used, what you expected, and the error or result you received. For a trade issue, include the trade ID or its FHQ link.
